Hi!

I would like to add a video section to my website with various videos of the MD-80. There are a lot of nice MD-80 video online at various sites. I can't post them all, so I need your help to find the best of the best. I would like to have videos of the both real aircraft and videos created in the simulator. I've been thinking about this for some time now, and it's time to get it done! Smile

Good ones. This one ranks as one of my all time favorites.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=A_a85ck37-Y

And one of the takeoff then landing of an Alaska Airlines MD-80 with all the boring bits between there left out:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=qzYcZr6ZlQw

On January 31, 2000, 88 souls including the crew of Alaska Airlines flight 261 lost their lives when their aircraft lost vertical control at around FL290 just outside Seattle. The cause of the crash was maintenance's failure to lubricate the jackscrew causing it to fail. Here is the ATC recording of that incident. Warning: If you think this recording might disturb you, please don't listen.

Quite impresive Cry. I don't remember nothing about this terrible incident. Very brave pilots trying to take total control of this wounded bird...

Here are some spectacular shots made by an Austral Lineas Aereas crew. They mount the camera on the glareshield. You can find others of their's on the same page as well.

We are operating two MD80 simulators. One MD80 Procedure Trainer, and one MD80 full motion simulator.

There is a video under "MD80 simulators" > "NSC in MD80 sim" at Nordic Simulator Center homepage

Ooooooooo, I like the bumpy like that. I like feeling the sensations of turbulence when I fly. Which reminds me, we fly out for our trip tomorrow leaving Killeen (KGRK) at 4:55 CDT and arriving at West Wendover (KENV) at a bit past 6. I hope its bumpy like that for us. My wife won't like it but I will love it. The bad news is that its not on an MD-80 but a B737-400.

How about a very smooth single-engine landing at KDFW?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LkMDPK1isg4

If the pilot hadn't made the announcement, how many people would have noticed (other than those in the back, between the engines)? Of course, the lack of thrust reversers would be a clue to everyone, but runway 31R is 9000 ft (2740 m) long anyway!

It's surprisingly easy in Super 80 due to the power of the engines. Braking, however, can be a bit touchy.

Here's one of me in a MD-90 sim. Close enough, right? By the way, the landing wasn't as "firm" as it looks. Wink
