I saw a poll similar to this on another flight sim forum and thought it was interesting to see the results. So, I am posting it here just out of curiosity. If you want to add anything, just post it in this thread.

Just turned 54 on 3/15. (Like Caesar, my mother was warned to "Beware the Ides of March", but did she listen?) Will be celebrating next week on a Caribbean cruise. SmileTongueBig%20smile    It's a Princess ship, so I hope Capt. Steubing, Julie Thumbs%20Up, Gopher, and the whole Love Boat crew will be there.

Bonus: Our return flights (KFLL-KDFW-KIND) are both AA MD-80's, upgraded to 1st class with FF miles. The KIND-KORD-KMIA flights are E145 (very tight pinch for a 6'5" person), and B757-200 (again up front, although not far enough for me).

Down side: No Super 80 for a week! Cry

I'm surrounded by kids.WinkLOL

I'm like you, Robert. I've been fascinated by aviation since I was old enough to look up.

I may have told this story before but I spent the first few years of my life on a cotton sharecropper's farm in Mississippi and the only aircraft I ever saw where those flying overhead. And this is before the days of jets. Then one day my grandfather took me to the airport to see them up close. My mother said I came back with my eyes as big as saucers and told her I had seen a "walking" airplane. I'd never seen any on the ground before.

You are referring to John Goodwin no doubt. God forbid anyone refer to me as being mature.LOL

What is surprising about this poll is the the one I based this one on is more like Ye Olde Bell Curve. This one is weighted more to the younger side.

38 for now, two little boys taking away all of my energy. I have been obsessed with aviation since I can remember (my first flight on Eastern when I was 6). Too young to remember flying on Southern at 3 yrs. old. When I was 30 my obsession finally resulted in getting my private pilot license. Can't really afford to fly as much as I want, and don't really have the time either, so simming is the next best thing.

At 58, here are the wisdoms I've learned over time (I did not originate these by the way):

  1. Don’t squat with your spurs on.
  2. Good judgment comes from experience, and a lot of that comes from bad judgment.
  3. Lettin’ the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier ‘n puttin it back in.
  4. If you’re ridin ahead of the herd, take a look back every now and to make sure it’s still there.
  5. If you get to thinkin’ you’re a person of some influence, try orderin’somebody else’s dog around.
  6. After eatin’ an entire bull, a mountain lion felt so good he started roaring. He kept it up until a hunter came along & shot him.... The moral; when you’re full of bull, keep your mouth shut.
  7. Never kick a cow chip on a hot day.
  8. There’s two theories to arguin’ with a woman. Neither one works.
  9. If you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is stop diggin’.
  10. Never slap a man who’s chewin’ tobacco.
  11. It don’t take a genius to spot a goat in a flock of sheep.
  12. Always drink upstream from the herd.
  13. When you give a lesson in meanness to a critter or a person, don’t be surprised if they learn their lesson.
  14. When you’re throwin’ your weight around, be ready to have it thrown around by somebody else.
  15. The quickest way to double your money is to fold it over and put it back in your pocket.
  16. There are three kinds of men: Those that learn by reading. Those that learn by observation. And the rest of us, that have to pee on the electric fence for ourselves.

One way of looking at it: Coolsky (and I assume flight sim in general) has demographics to die for from a marketing perspective.

In a sample of over 200 FlightSim users from a Usenet group, the average age was 52 y/o. For the record, I'm the keeper of the database, and am 51 years of age.
